The Art of Application Essay Writing

Anita helped me immensely with my application essays for graduate school. I would even go as far to say that I probably wouldn’t be going without her! She broke down the prompts and helped me understand and see that I always had something to write about — even for prompts that seemed completely impossible to me. Anita also didn’t change my message and story — which is such an important quality while editing essays. Her passion and interest for this work was also evident when she completed countless reviews & edits of my essays, even when I just wanted to submit them. I would definitely love Anita’s support for any future job, school, or internship application essays! She’s the best!

The application process for higher education can be very daunting even with the support of school placement counselors and mentors in industry. When applying to undergraduate programs, students work in a one-on-one setting to identify their own story and then strike a balance between crafting their narrative not only in their own authentic voice, but also tell their story in a way that sets them apart from other applicants.

At the graduate level, students learn how to leverage their work experience and academic pursuits to tell the story of what brought them to pursue the graduate study of their choice. They also learn how to clearly articulate goals and customize their essays to specifically and directly answer the prompts of each individual school.

The application essay writing program consists of multiple meetings where the student will receive feedback and discuss possible changes to structure and narrative.

Working with Anita was a highlight of my MBA application process.  She assessed my needs to understand where my strengths and weaknesses were for application essays.  She worked with me to understand patterns that contributed to bad writing habits and constructively edited my essays in a way that gave me confidence in using these techniques going forward. She asked probing and thoughtful questions that helped reach the level of introspection that I needed to be successful.
